About The Founders

Kyle and Carson are the ones who created Wealthy Affiliate back in 2005. At this time, running a website wasn’t an easy thing, but both deal with it pretty well. They had one purpose in mind, and it was to help as many people as possible to grow an online business. This is how Wealthy Affiliate came to life, and it has 14 years today. It’s growing every year, and it now has more than 1.9 million members!

Since I don’t want to copy their bio on their own WA profile, I will share with you screenshots of their profiles.

Carson Profile - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

These two men have honourable values, and that’s one of the reasons for their success. They are a lot active on the platform, and they keep improving it so that their users have the best experience and stay up-to-date since the web is moving fast.

Having the founders active like this is an excellent sign of the legitimacy of the company. I mean, many would have just built this and leave it, taking all the profits without caring about the users. That’s not the case with Kyle and Carson, and that’s a fascinating point.

Inside Wealthy Affiliate

Just before I enter this subject, I wish to precise one thing: WA business model.

Like many people would think, Wealthy Affiliate is not an MLM company. If you want to know more about MLM business models, please take a look at my article What Is an Multi-Level Marketing Business Model here. Wealthy affiliate is a platform offering an affiliate program, which is a commission for every sale that you make. So, there is no story of ranking and recruitment. You can make money without sharing the platform; you don’t have an obligation to share it. Wealthy Affiliate makes money through its premium members who buy this membership monthly or yearly.

Now, the exciting part: what’s going on inside WA?!

My answer is many things. You will find training, a community, live webinars every week, etc. This platform gives you tools and mentors to build your business, so the way you use it is up to you. Let me look at the main features with you.

Thousand of Training

Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC)

When you enter Wealthy Affiliate, the first suggested training to follow is the Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC). This training gives you the basics to build a solid foundation for your business. One of the reasons why it is suggested as the first training to follow is that it starts from scratch. So, if you have never worked online, this training will guide you step by step. It is divided into five courses, each of them having ten lessons, for a total of 50 lessons.

Let me check with you the first course.

OEC Level 1 - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

The course is divided into ten lessons, each of them covering different aspects to build a solid foundation. There are numerous benefits and learning outcomes following this first course:

Benefits - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

Once you’re done with the first course, you have to follow with the second one until you reach the last one of this first training.

The way the training is taught is to help you learn and apply. What I mean is that in every lesson, you read/watch/listen, and once you’re done, you cross the steps you’ve completed. Let me show you an example of the first lesson:

Lesson 1 - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

Listening and doing is probably one of the best ways to learn. Plus, doing it this way will help you build your business step by step. You’ll finish the first course, and you’ll have an up and running website!

To finish my example with the first course, for every training on the platform, you will find a Comments Section where members can ask questions or evaluate the training. It is always great to know if the training is valuable or not. Here is a part of the comments section for the first course in the OEC training:

Comments - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

I won’t check every course of this training in detail here, but you can check them by clicking on the respective link:

  1. Getting Started (the one I checked with you);
  2. Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website;
  3. Making Money!;
  4. Mastering Social Engagement;
  5. Achieving Maximum Success Through Content Creation.

So, in this first training you will learn how to:

  • Choose a niche;
  • Build a website from scratch;
  • Monetize this website;
  • Work with social media;
  • Make money online!

Affiliate Bootcamp

The second suggested training is the Affiliate Bootcamp. Like many companies, Wealthy Affiliate has an affiliate program where you can “sell” the platform to others. A little precision here like I explained earlier: you don’t have an obligation to be part of this affiliate program. Most of the time, people who share the platform are the ones who already tested it and sincerely believe it works.

This training is also divided into courses, but this time there are seven courses instead of five. Although they still have ten lessons each, so it has a total of 70 lessons.

If you are interested in knowing more on each course, you can click the respective link below:

  1. Getting your business rolling;
  2. Content, keywords and conversions;
  3. Giving your site social value;
  4. Get visual. Get aesthetic. Get a brand through media;
  5. Knowing your audience & catapulting your referrals;
  6. Bing, Yahoo & the power of PPC;
  7. How to scale successful PPC campaigns.

This training teaches you how to build a business in the Make Money Online niche. Different aspects are covered, it is truly interesting. Once you’ve completed both of these training, your business will be on the right path!

Other Training

Other than these two first suggested training, your formation to become a great online entrepreneur is complemented with many additional training.

Every Friday, Jay (Magistudio), one of the leaders on this platform, is giving a live webinar on different aspects of online marketing. And when I say live webinars, it’s not the kind of webinars you find online where there is a 30 minutes intro on his life and 30 minutes of selling a product. Oh no, that’s not how it works with Jay. The live webinar lasts between an hour and an hour and a half where you learn many detail information, plus the traditional questions and answers at the end. These webinars are gold.

You can’t make it on Friday? That’s fine; every webinar is available on Jay’s profile or in the training tab.

Magistudio - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

Another great thing is the fact that every member can create their own training. Are you good with social media? Fine, you can create training on social media and share it with the community. When your training gains authority (likes and comments), you can be “rewarded” for that with a commission.

So, numerous training you can find on the platform allows you to learn more about online marketing every single day. Basically, it’s an online school!

Engaged Community

Now that I went through the training part, I want to talk about the engaged community. If you tried to start a business in the past (whatever the type of business it was), do you remember how hard it was to find people like-minded like you? Well, for me, it was, and it is still today.

At Wealthy Affiliate, people who are there are the ones who want to succeed. That means that they do have the same mindset as you. Connecting with these persons is priceless. Learning from others’ mistakes, success stories, wins, loses, etc. has a considerable value.

Do you need motivation? Ask for it. Do you need help? Ask for it. Do you want tips? Ask for it. You will receive an answer because the community is present to help others while they are working on their own business. Helping each other to grow is one of the best ways to grow faster.

You have different option to reach the community:

  • Live chat 24/7;
  • Private messages;
  • Blog posts;
  • Questions;
  • SiteSupport.

Whatever the way you use to ask a question or talk with the community, you will have an answer. One thing, though, the answer won’t arrive within minutes in all options.

In the live chat, you usually have an answer between 1-5 minutes.

If you send a private message to someone, the answer will depend on the person’s availability.

If you write a blog post or a question, usually it’s fast because there are always active members on the platform (there are people from all around the world so with different timezone it helps).

If you contact SiteSupport (more if you have a problem with your website), they usually take between 30 minutes or an hour to respond.

Building a business is not easy, and it often happens that we have questions. If we work alone, it can be hard to find an answer, but with such a community, there is no reason you can’t find your answer.

Membership

Now you must wonder: yeah, that’s cool, Audrey, but how much does it cost for all these features? I mean, training, community, support, webinars, etc. it must be expensive?

Expensive is a relative word, you know. For me, expensive can be $30, and for you, it can be $100. So, I’ll check with you the different membership available, and you will decide after if you consider it’s expensive or not.

To use the platform of Wealthy Affiliate, you must be a member, so you have two memberships available: free and premium. Let’s take a look at both:

Membership Options - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

For sure, as a premium member, there are more options. However, as a free member, you can still grow a nice business. It might take a little more time, but I’m sure someone has already made it! Still, the premium membership offers many features that other companies would sell for a lot more…

Do you know how much people starting a business from scratch can put? Sometimes, debts go up to more than $50,000. That’s a lot of money. Here, Wealthy Affiliate offers you web hosting, training, expert and support for only $49. Seriously? It’s almost a joke!

Wealthy Affiliate even has a yearly membership. For $349, you have 12 months as a premium member. Let’s do the math:

  • 12 month x $49 = $588
  • 1 year x $349 = $349
  • $588 – $349 = $239 (you save!)

It’s about $29 per month if you take the yearly membership. Now, that’s even more a joke.

Why buy the yearly membership? First, you save money (easy one). Second, by buying the yearly membership, you are destined to be successful. You know you will be committed for one complete year. Wealthy Affiliate isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme, you have to work if you want success (like every kind of business, duh).

So, is it expensive? 😉

Wealthy Affiliate And Its Site Building Tools

Site Building - Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit

One of the cool things about Wealthy Affiliate is that you don’t need to host your website elsewhere, you can do it directly on the platform. And yes, it is included in the membership.

As a free member, you have two free websites under SiteRubix platform, which the Wealthy Affiliate own WordPress site.

As a premium member, you have 50 free websites: 25 with SiteRubix and 25 with your own domain. With your own domain you must buy the domain, but it’s between $13.99 and $15.99. This price is yearly.

With Site Building tools, you have absolutely everything you need to build your websites. Plus, you have access 24/7 at the best support team that will make sure your website goes well.

Pros And Cons

I couldn’t find one…

Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam Or Legit?

The ultimate question: Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Legit?

I think you understood that it could not be a scam, right? So no, it isn’t a scam, it is totally legit, and the first goal of this platform is to help people succeed online. It’s not a company trying to sell stuff because if it were that, it would be way more expensive than $49 per month. Kyle and Carson are sharing their knowledge and life experiences with their WA members because they want to help others. It doesn’t feel like they want to suck money from them. Since it’s a business, it is normal that it cost something if you wish to access all the features, but we should not forget there is a free membership too.

I have to tell you that I am a member of Wealthy Affiliate for more than half a year now, and I’m so happy I took this decision. Everything I have learned so far has brought my business and myself to another level, and I’m so proud. If a normal girl like me did it, you can do it too! Here is a screenshot of my profile in WA.

  1. Hi Audrey, quite a remarkable review of what is offered at Wealthy Affiliate, it contains all the tools and resources for anyone to get started and sustain an online business. I am living proof as I just started out – one only needs to bring their commitment. And as a bonus there is a big community of like minded members ready to assist.

  2. I’ve been skeptical about Wealthy Affiliate, but after reading your review, I see that it’s a legit company. I did some background check before reading your article and found mainly positive reviews and testimonials. They are even listed on BBB and have a clean sheet there as well. All this got me convinced to try it out, and what I’ve discovered blew my mind away. I’ve felt on to a few scams before and now when I compare them to WA, it’s clear that WA isn’t.

    The reason why some people claim differently is probably that they’ve failed to apply the company’s training and now they blame them for their failure. It’s always easier to blame other guys for your own failure. Thanks for sharing this info! Your review has helped a lot. What is your experience there so far?

    1. Hi Ivan, to answer your question, my experience until now is fabulous. I think I learned more in a couple of months than I ever did in my life. What I mean is that at school (the traditional one we must go), we learn a profession to exchange our time with money. At Wealthy Affiliate, I’m learning every day how to make money! Isn’t what we want, make money? I encourage everyone (and you!) to at least try it. It’s free, so you don’t have any excuses. Plus, maybe it could change your life like it changed mine 😉

      Thank you for sharing with us 🙂

  3. Hey Audrey!

    With so many scams and illegitimate offers out there, it’s hard to find the companies that have a legitimate program. It’s a nice change to see a review (Especially one that is so in-depth. The pictures are a huge help!) on Wealthy Affiliate, a company that looks to have truly built a business on helping their customers – Glad to see you have had such a great experience, and thanks for turning the rest of us on to it!

    1. Hi Raff, thank you for your comment and I’m glad you liked my review. I want my readers to clearly understand what is going on inside. Wealthy Affiliate definitely helps its customers and that is unique! Looking forward to seeing you inside WA 🙂
