Is Norwex a Pyramid Scheme – A Complete Review

Is Norwex Legit

In this review, I’m answering this question: Is Norwex a Pyramid Scheme? At the end of this review, the answer will be found and you’ll be able to say if this company is legit or not.

Before we start, let’s just check where Norwex comes from.

Norwex was founded in 1994 in Norway by Bjorn Nicolaisen. He was shown a clothe that could clean a very dirty windshield only with microfiber and water. Since this experience, he decided to start a business, which is Norwex, that would reduce the use of chemicals in our house cleaning products. In 1999, it came to Canada. It was the first Norwex name in North America. Since then, it has never stopped growing and growing.

Now that you have a better idea where it is from, let’s dive in this complete review to know more about the company and if it is a pyramid scheme! Let’s check what subject I talk about :

General Information

Name: Norwex

Are The Products Worth It?

Is Norwex Legit

First, yes Norwex sells products. In fact, this is how the company works; it is just like any other companies selling products to their customers. Now, what kind of products can you find at Norwex and are they worth it? Are they quality products?

Norwex sells products for household, personal care, family, etc. They really have many products at a competitive price. Their special ”feature” is microfiber since this is the principal subject of the creation of Norwex.

Here is a preview of the categories you will find on its website :

What is interesting with Norwex products is that consuming these products aren’t a hard task. Since you need to clean up your house anyway, whatever the products you use to do it, you need to do it. So why not use products that are good for the environment at a good price?

Norwex Microfiber, Their Unique Product

Their microfiber has some cool features, here are some of them (this information comes from their own website) :

  • Replace expensive floor cleaners containing harsh chemicals ;
  • Safe for wood, laminate, tile and vinyl ;
  • Reduce harmful chemicals on your floors, where children and pets play ;
  • Telescopic Mop Handle extends to easily get walls, windows and other hard-to-reach areas clean, too ;
  • Clean floors quickly and easily using only a Norwex Microfiber Mop and water—floors dry super fast ;
  • Their newest Mop Pad is made using Recycled Plastic Bottles—so you can live more sustainably!

Their microfiber has many more awesome characteristics, but since it’s not the main subject here I’ll just show these. If you want more information about them, you can visit their website.

”With the Norwex Microfiber System, you will not breathe, touch, or ingest chemicals – you simply create a cleaner healthier indoor environment.”

Although they claim their products are unbelievable, some customers don’t think the same way (these reviews were found on the web) :

Norwex Business Model

Is Norwex Legit

Norwex is a company selling products to their customers but they also have an option for their passionate ones so that they can sell their own Norwex products, this is where you become a consultant. Becoming a consultant means that your main task will be to sell Norwex products to others. It’s like if you become a private seller of Norwex products.

Since I was interested in knowing more about Norwex, I tried to subscribe as a consultant because I wanted to see if it was an MLM (multi-level-marketing) company. It is not hard to see: if they ask you for the name of a consultant to subscribe it’s probably an MLM model. Since it asked for one, I conclude that it works with the multi-level marketing system and I did not subscribe because I’m not interested in MLM.

I was interested in making money. That’s the reason I chose something affordable and with a good reputation: affiliate marketing. Now, I run my full-time business and I love it. I can work when I want and where I want. To learn all this, I took a unique and specific training that taught me many things such as How to Make Money Online.

This brings me to the question Is Norwex a pyramid scheme? The answer to this question is mitigated. For many people, an MLM company is not a pyramid scheme if they focus on selling products instead of recruiting people. On the other side, a pyramid scheme would be a company where its revenues are only based on the recruitment.

In my opinion, all type of MLM companies are ”pyramid” since you necessarily need another consultant to jump in, that means that you’ll be under that person in the pyramid. At Norwex, by being a consultant you can sell your own Norwex products but you can also build a team of Norwex Consultants and earn discounts based on team sales. Plus, you get $300 in free products of your choice for every new consultant you bring in. Since it really encourages people to bring other people in, I would be tempted to say it is a pyramid scheme even if their first focus is their products but let’s wait until the end of this post to conclude.

What is not indicated on their website though is if there are rankings. What I mean by ranking is that the more you bring people in, the more you get higher in the company and the more revenue you can earn. That’s typically what a pyramid scheme is when it is only focusing on this type of revenue (no products to sell for example).

Being a Consultant At Norwex

Is Norwex Legit

Since you can sell your own products, you become a Norwex consultant and you can work on your own. I want to take a look with you at the advantages of being a Norwex ”distributor” and this information comes directly from Norwex website.

  • Earn 35% discount on your personal retail sales
  • Get $300 in free products for every new member in your team (new consultant under your sponsor)
  • Earn discounts based on your team sales

These are the main advantages you have of becoming a Norwex Consultant. If you really love Norwex products it can be very interesting for you to become a consultant and promote their products.

As a consultant, you will also have the option to schedule “partys” like they call them to promote their products. These partys can bring you another source of income by helping you to sell your Norwex products. On its website, Norwex talks about :

  • $700/month for 1 party/week
  • $1400/month for 2 partys/week
  • $2100/month for 3 partys/week
  • $2800/month for 4 partys/week

So, it’s about $700 per party per week.

It’s a company that offers many advantages to its consultants so that they can stay motivated and encouraged them to continue their own business. It can be a great opportunity if you are interested a lot in their products and you want to share them with many people. Although, you must be aware of how the system works since it is under an MLM system.

Can You Learn Marketing At Norwex?

Is Norwex Legit

In many companies, such as Amway or IM Mastery Academy for example, they teach their consultants or IBO (Independent Business Owner) how to do marketing so that they can improve their sales, but it is not the case for every company. Most of the time, these ”courses” are given through live videos (webinars) or training already recorded so that you can watch them when you want/can. There is also mentoring by older consultants or IBO who become your sponsor when we talk about MLM (multi-level-marketing) company.

For Norwex, I must admit that training to learn how to do marketing is something I couldn’t find on their website and through the web. It doesn’t seem like Norwex is there to show their consultants how to do their sales and how to maximize them. So, for now, I’ll tell you no, you cannot learn how to do marketing at Norwex but if someone has an answer for this, please leave it in the comment below. 😀

Is Norwex Made For You?

Is Norwex Legit

Now, is Norwex a company made for you if you want to become a consultant (if you only want to be a customer, I encourage you to test their products). There are many companies working in this niche so it makes a lot of competition. For sure, every company has its own characteristics and valuable products. For Norwex, we talk about microfiber.

Norwex as a consultant can be for you if you :

  • Love their products and want to share them with many people;
  • Want to work on your own without any boss;
  • Are ready to dedicate many hours into your business (this applies for any type of business).

As I said, since it is under the MLM system, be aware of the possible pyramid scheme. Norwex exists since many years and had made its proofs but we never know. I personally don’t recommend MLM business models.

I’ll be honest with you, there is one thing I don’t like of these type of companies where you need to promote their products + the company itself, is that you always have to harass people with your products or propose them to join. After you’ve done all your family and friends, you have to expand your business further and it can become restrictive. Plus, many of these companies have a reputation so it becomes hard to convince people to buy or join. This kind of marketing is a tough one and you must be aware of this.

Is Norwex Legit – Final Words

Finally, can we tell if Norwex is a pyramid scheme? Let’s recap what we analyzed.

Norwex is selling many household products with good quality and this is its main purpose. Until now, it sounds good since that mostly the purpose of every business, sell something for someone who needs it. Okay, let’s continue.

Norwex gives you the opportunity to sell its products if you really appreciate them and if you want to ”spread the love”, then you become a consultant. As a consultant you have many advantages such as discounts for every sale you make, sounds good. But you can also earn discounts if you recruit new consultants, that’s where I bug. When I read that, I immediately see a picture with a pyramid. You know, the one looking at you and ready to suck your money. Yes, maybe I’m a little paranoid.

Still, let’s continue. As a consultant of Norwex, it doesn’t seem like Norwex really care about your education on marketing so it doesn’t seem like they offer any courses.

So is Norwex a pyramid scheme? After what we’ve analyzed I’d say no, but still it is an MLM business model so be aware of that. Probably that many people make money with Norwex but remember that the MLM system is not made for everyone and has a very bad reputation. Many people join companies like this thinking they will truly become successful and finally they can hardly cover the price to enter as a member.

So, if one of your plans was to become a consultant at Norwex, I hope this review helped you a bit and that you will make the right decision for you and your future.

If you came here because you were curious to know how you could add another source of income in your pockets and maybe make it your full source of income, then I will suggest you something else that you will like, it’s called Wealthy Affiliate. Briefly, you’ll be able to become a pro in affiliate marketing and work with the biggest companies in the world such as Amazon. If you are even more curious, you can try it for FREE. So, what are you choosing?

  1. Thanks for such a detailed review! Also, I really appreciate that you shared screenshots of some of the reviews in here. I didn’t even know we can earn money from the parties!

  2. Thank you for this thorough review. I’ve heard about Norwex before but never really explored the company deeper. They do not seem to be a 100 percent scam, since they have a products they are selling. However, MLM business model is really unreliable, especially for those who just start in the company.
    The way I look at it, it is just another way to ensure the company stays financially stable.

    1. Hi Strahinja,

      Norwex has products and that’s what makes them more ”legitimate”, still it stays a MLM company and like you say, this business model is really unreliable. In fact, there is a better way to create a passive income without being in a MLM model. I invite you to check it out if it interests you, you can read my review here.

      Thank you for sharing 🙂

  3. Norwex allowing you to sell their products to customers is fine. What I usually find discouraging is when you have to recruit others as consultants to make money. This usually means family and friends who get tired of you badgering them about your great money making opportunity. Also having parties to sell their products will become time consuming. It is a great way to see if you can become persistent and consistent in business thus allowing you the opportunity to make money.

    Thanks for the review.

    1. Hi Bob, definitely this kind of business will test your limits without any doubts. Now, you have to decide if you want to test them this way. Like you said, when you have to recruit others to become consultants it is usually friends and family, and they’ll become tired to hear you talking about this « opportunity ».

      I personally prefer the kind of business where you can work on your own and where your results only depend on your work and efforts. Let’s take Wealthy Affiliate as an example. It is the perfect platform to teach you how to become an affiliate marketer and make money online. Maybe you would like to give it a try? Take a look here!

      Thanks for sharing 🙂

  4. Thoughtful review. I didn’t know this company existed. I am glad you shared the link and knowledge as that helps whether one should sign up with them or not.
